How to ‘Deeprelax’ with Ayurveda

Combining Yoga Nidra and Ayurveda to reach a state of deep relaxation

Have you ever wondered why you sometimes can really enjoy a yoga nidra session while on other days you experience extreme discomfort? How is it possible that certain yoga nidra sessions can create irritation or anxiety? Or why are you some days able to completely let go and relax while on other days you are restless until the end?

With Ayurveda this can quite easily be explained as one of the main views in Ayurveda is that we are all unique, all different and different people need a different Yoga Nidra practice. From this point of view you can imagine the close relationship between Yoga & Ayurveda in general. Yes, it’s for a good reason that we call these Indian traditions ‘sister sciences’.

What will you learn?

In this session you will be introduced to the basic principles of Ayurveda as well as the three primary mind-body personalities (the Doshas): Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. You will get to know what is best for your particular birth constitution (prakruti) and current imbalance (vikruti) in order to balance yourself with a uniquely designed Yoga Nidra session. For this we will show you how you can view your Yoga Nidra practice through Ayurvedic glasses. You will learn what kind of sessions are best for your particular birth constitution (prakruti) and current imbalance (vikruti) in order for you to adjust your practice according to your needs at that particular moment.

Personalize your relaxation

Because the Doshas also express in nature and therefore in the seasons of the year is divided into periods of time in which a certain Dosha is prevalent. Flowing with the seasons is highly recommended to stay in balance. Meaning that even if your birth constitution differs we all should take extra care of our Vata Dosha in autumn. Therefore this session will be focused on how to balance Vata Dosha with Yoga Nidra.

We will cover:

  • Pancha Maha Bhutas (5 elements)

  • 3 Doshas (Vata, Pitta & Kapha)

  • 20 Gunas (the 20 qualities and the principle of “like increases like”)

  • Yoga Nidra recommendations for each Dosha

  • Special focus on the season of Vata Dosha

Because experience is the best knowledge there is we will definitely end the workshop with a seasonal vata balancing Yoga Nidra session including a little massage guided by Eliane.
